Rain Rain Go Away!

This past Friday Greeneville played Mercer County (a team from Kentucky) and it was such a gross game! It rained and rained and rained...and rained some more. They actually delayed the game by and hour it was raining so much. We played really well and beat the other team! Needless to say-halftime was not to it's full potential! The quarter before the majorettes performed we were taking things out that the weather would not permit them to do. The whole band got to leave after halftime since everyone was drenched!
That leads me to Saturday...
Saturday I traveled with the band to Chilhowee VA for a band competition. The day started out very early with the band leaving at 7AM! Once we arrived the band marched in a parade with the other bands of the competition. The majorettes did wonderful and had a great time as well. The weather was nice at this point. I thought that maybe the rain had passed through. I could not have been further from the truth! The band had a break and so we traveled to Bristol to visit a mall for lunch. After lunch the weather was still cloudy but not raining. Once the band got back to the competition site the sky opened up and it did not stop raining until Sunday! The girls did a great job. I was very proud of how they handled doing the show in the rain. The band did a great job as well and won a lot of awards. There was not a majorette category in this competition so the majorettes were not judged. We were all VERY wet and VERY tired and glad to go home. Since it was raining both Friday and Saturday I did not take any pictures.

Greeneville vs Cocke County

Friday night was an away game at Cocke county. The majorettes did an amazing job! Two of the majorettes actually had a no drop! Artie went with me and we left a little after halftime because Greeneville was ahead by a lot of points! The weather was wonderful! It is great that it is starting to feel like fall. Here are some photos from Friday and few from Saturdays practice!

Doe River Gorge

Saturday I went with the youth group at my church to Doe River Gorge. It is an awesome Christian Ministry Camp in Elizabethton. They have anything you could think of to do. It was such a good day...very relaxing! I only got one picture the whole day because I was in the water the whole time. This is a pic of some of our group waiting for the zip line. It was a hoot watching them zoom into the water from top of the mountain!

Greeneville vs Sullivan South

Friday night the band played an away game at Sullivan South. It was really hot...you can tell by the make up sliding off our faces and the hair matted down on my head. The band actually had to perform during pregame which left the rest of the game to cheer! Everyone had a great time even though we lost :(

Happy Birthday Austin!!!

Austin is a close family friend from church. Last Monday Artie and I were invited to his 16th birthday. We had a blast getting to know more of his family. The cake was from Peggy Ann's (a local bakery) and was delicious! Artie and I are so blessed to have such a great surrogate family!

Friday Night Lights

Friday night Artie and I went to the Greeneville High School football game. We had so much fun! Greeneville won and the majorettes were wonderful. Artie got a chance to meet everyone that I have been talking about for the past few months.

Labor Day

Artie and I had a wonderful Labor Day together! We spent the day planting mums and working in our yard. I think Artie is glad to have a yard to work on. I know he missed it when we lived in the duplex. It is wonderful to spend the time together too. Later in the afternoon, Artie and I were invited to our next door neighbors for a cookout. It was a lot of fun getting to know Jim and Nim's family. They made a yummy spread of food and we had a blast. We are blessed to have such wonderful neighbors! To top off the night Artie settled in to watch his UT Vols play UCLA and I caught the end of a 90210 marathon. NO, I do not watch football. (Unless they show halftime...which is never.) Over all we had a great long weekend and we got to spend a lot of time together which is nice. Here are some photos of the front porch. The potted plants will bloom into mums and I will take pics when they do!
