Commercial

Are you ready for the fun news I have been hinting at all week? The lovely ladies of Gracious Designs came to shoot a commercial in my living room. I hired them this spring to transform my very plain living room into a warm and welcoming space. They loved what they did so much that they asked to film their commercial here! We shot the commercial this afternoon. It went really well. The producer wanted a blank room to start which is why they "un-decorated" the room last night. I even got to be in the commercial! It will be airing on channel 11 starting in August. It was such an honor to be chosen. Here are some photos from the day. Hopefully I will get a copy of the commercial that I can post! Enjoy!

Before the commercial started!

Getting the camera equipment set up

Almost ready for the first shot
This is not a great picture but this is of the designers putting the room back together on camera

Here is the other set up for a different shot with the lovely camera lady!
All in all it was a great day! I am so blessed to have been able to do this. I can't wait to see the finished product!!

I told them that we should do my kitchen next.

The Repo Woman

Well the repo woman came tonight and repoed (Audra, is that right) all the decorations in our house...ok not really. But someone did come by and take everything out of our living room! It is all part of the fun and exciting news I can not wait to share! Here are photos of the living room after the un-decorating commenced. Tomorrow I will post about the fun news!

New Baby

Not my own of course....

Jackson has taken to a new toy that we are lovingly referring to as baby.
He is not 100% sold on this new toy but we will roll with it until he decides otherwise.

In other news of the people variety, my friend Ashley came over tonight to work on "majorette things". We had her for dinner (which was the reason for the cookies in the last post) and did not get much accomplished! We ended up talking and looking at pictures all night. We really had a great time. More fun and exciting things coming this week that I can not wait to share with you!

Best Cookies EVER!

For some reason the stars were aligned just right today and I was able to get my WHOLE to do list completed. This NEVER happens. I get distracted by shiny things and reality tv. I cant help it. Which by the way...I am in LOVE with the show Ruby. I love that she is southern. She really cracks me up. She calls her "area" Christmas. How funny is that. Wait...what was I talking about. Oh right, the to do list. Well...the WHOLE thing is done. Including making cookies, washing the sheets and giving the dogs a bath. My oh my the procrastinator in me is going on strike.

Ok..I have a cookie recipe to share that is VERY quick and easy! This recipe is great for summer and I can not wait to try other variations of it.

1 Duncan Hines Cake Mix (I used french vanilla)
2 eggs
1/2 cup canola oil
Craisins
sliced almonds (you can use pecans)
white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350
Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray
Mix the eggs, oil and cake mix all together
Mix the craisins, WC chips, and almonds (as much as you would like)
Scoop onto cookie sheet
Bake for 12 minutes
Then let cool and eat (or you can suffer the pain for the pleasure!)

I promise this is the most perfect combination of salty and sweet. Even though it does not have a pound of butter I still give it my seal of approval! You can also switch out the yummy things you put in the cookie and the types of cake mix you use. I have heard that devils food cake with chocolate chips is delicious. Let me know if anyone tries it before me!

I have a very busy but exciting week ahead of me (reason for the cookies) and I will post about it once I have a moment to breath. I can not wait to share some fun (not baby ) news!

I hope everyone has a great week!

Crafty-ness

I recently had 2 custom picture frames created from a seller on ETSY. They turned out super cute and the girls that I gifted them to loved them. Seeing how cute they turned out I decided to try to make my own! (Especially since they were $20 +shipping) So I went to Hobby Lobby and got to work! The supplies (I had somethings on hand) only cost me $1.29 +tax.

Here are the supplies: $1 wood frame
$.29 sheet of scrapbook paper, ribbon, sponge brush, and scissors
(yes they are reindeer scissors)

Step 1: trace the frame on the back of the paper

Step 2: cut out paper

Step 3: Trace and cut out picture hole

Step 4: coat the frame with Mod Podge and glue down the paper (also coat the paper)

Step 5: (Being Southern) Tie a BIG bow with beautiful ribbon and glue on frame

The Finished Product!

Cute huh? I was quite proud! I had the ribbon and mod podge on hand so I did not have that cost. I am making them for the majorettes as a camp gift using green and white polka dot paper. I will take a pic once I get them finished! Have a great rest of the week.

Maybe I should charge rent

Two or three months ago I noticed a bird had built this beautiful nest under our deck. She came and laid 3 eggs; they hatched and flew away. Then a month later she came back to the nest (I was not aware that birds did that) and laid 2 more eggs. They hatched and flew away.

Then....

A few weeks later not 1....

Not 2....

But 3 more nests appeared.

Here is the cross view of all of the nests. They start in the right hand corner of the cross beam and go across to the left. You might have to enlarge the pic to see them.

Two of the nests have 3 eggs a piece. I am excited to see if these birds come back to lay eggs again. What is funny, is that the birds feel pretty comfortable with the dogs because the simply sit in their nests and watch us. They never move! We will have a whole flock of robins in our yard...Audra, are they called a flock?
